The Future of Logistics Is Decided by Machines – 4T4 Is Building It

What was your career path before taking the lead at 4T4, the third startup developed by Maritime Ventures?

My entrepreneurial journey began very early, back in my university years while earning a degree in engineering. Thanks to my technical background and the environment I grew up in—my family operated a road haulage company—I naturally focused on delivery optimization. Within a few years, I founded and sold a fleettracking management software company. Building on this first, highly formative experience, I went on to launch my first startup focused on optimized ecommerce parcel delivery. After securing major commercial agreements with Italian and international brands, the company was acquired by Poste Italiane in 2020. During my four years at Poste, where I contributed significantly to the development of the new Poste Delivery Business service, I realized it was time to address the problem further upstream: the fact that heavy transport involves a massive waste of resources, energy, and time, largely due to an informal organizational model based on lastminute decisions made by individual operators.

What does 4T4 do, and what is the added value of having developed it through a venture building approach?

4T4 has developed a technology designed to improve how transport operations are planned and executed. The objective is to reduce inefficiencies, improve coordination between stakeholders, and enable more scalable and reliable operations across different markets. In the short term, our goal is to launch the first pilot projects in maritime transport, optimizing truck onboarding and loading times at port terminals. Thanks to the venture builder model, we can focus immediately on product development and market validation, while leveraging strong relationships with partners and leading players in the sector, such as PSA. Compared to more traditional startup paths, this approach allows us to enter the market without the pressure of raising capital solely to validate the concept—the validation will take place directly with the companies involved in the project.

What sets 4T4 apart from its competitors?

We are a Decision Intelligence Platform. Our technology automates the countless microdecisions that are currently managed through direct interactions between customers, suppliers, and drivers. With 4T4, it is possible to use language models in order to understand context and unstructured information, extract actionable data and instructions to offload a large share of repetitive tasks. Unlike competitors that focus purely on defining operational workflows, 4T4 turns those workflows into concrete actions, orchestrating operations across all stakeholders involved.

What is your vision for the near future?

Autonomous driving is not a distant prospect—it is already a reality and will become an integral part of the heavy transport system in the coming years. With a solution like 4T4, we provide a decisionmaking tool designed for a hybrid environment, where vehicle drivers will increasingly be supported by nonhuman agents. Logistics is evolving into a fully technologydriven business, and we enable companies to optimize decisionmaking processes, helping them take a meaningful step forward in navigating such a major transformation.
